France Portugal

In the latest steps to open up international travel further, the Government has waived quarantine for more fully vaccinated travellers arriving in the UK.

The announcement came yesterday (July 28) and applies to those entering from the EU and the USA, and will take place from August 2 this year.

With society now fully opened up without any legal Covid restrictions, many people are seeking that sun-filled holiday abroad, which they have been dreaming about since the start of the pandemic.

Spain

Spain is the most popular holiday destination for British holiday-makers every year.

The Spanish government requires all arrivals to Spain from the UK to present on entry a pre-travel declaration form and one of the following: a negative Covid-19 test; or proof of vaccination.

Spain is on England's amber list so restrictions should be taken into consideration and have to be followed.

This includes regular testing for every traveller and a self isolation period for any Brit returning from Spain who hasn't been fully jabbed at least two weeks before travelling.

Portugal

In Portugal, tests have to be booked in advance and paid for in full. It can take up to 24 hours for the results to be returned.

All travellers, apart from children under 12, must have proof of a negative Covid-19 test to travel to or through mainland Portugal.

You must show your test certificate before you board your flight to mainland Portugal. Your airline is likely to deny boarding if you cannot show this at check-in.

France

Travel to France from the UK will only be permitted for EU nationals, French residents, or those travelling for essential reasons
The Eiffel Tower in Paris

Entry to France depends on whether you're fully vaccinated or not.

Those who are fully jabbed can freely travel to France without needing an essential reason to travel - they also don't need to self-isolate on arrival or provide a negative test.

People attending events and cultural spaces with over 50 people will need to demonstrate their Covid-19 status through the “pass sanitaire”.

This can be in the form of a vaccination certificate, a negative PCR test, or a document stating you have recovered from Covid-19.

From August 1, you will need this to access a range of services and venues including leisure facilities in France.

Dubai (UAE)

The FCDO advises against all but essential travel to the whole of the United Arab Emirates based on the current assessment of Covid-19 risks.

The whole of the UAE is on England's red list so travelling to these countries is not advised.

The UAE authorities have stated that any violation of instructions and procedures put in place to limit the spread of COVID-19 will be treated as a crime punishable by law.

All residents over the age of 16 are eligible for the vaccination programme. The Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is also available for children aged 12-15 years.
